The project which was launched in February 2018 was created for the reward of drivers for ecologically safe driving, that is the smooth and safe movement at low speeds. The project will be at a testing stage within the next three months during which 500 drivers who conform to the rules of environmentally friendly driving will be rewarded by MobiCoins.
Data from vehicles will be transferred to Daimler and to be transformed to MobiCoins which will be stored in a mobile application. It is reported that participants with the greatest number of MobiCoins will be able to receive VIP-tickets for such actions as DTM Races, the Final of MercedesCup or Fashion week in Berlin. However, it is still unknown whether motorists will be able to convert MobiCoins into traditional currency or other cryptocurrencies.
In recent months many German car makers master blockchain technology. In February 2018 the German giant on the production of the BMW cars declared the partnership with VeChain, the platform for the increase in a chain of deliveries on the basis of a blockchain. In the same month, the Porsche company located in Stuttgart declared that it integrated with the Berlin startup of XAIN to use blockchain technology for improving interlock systems and opportunities for independent cars.
